Feng Yaoxiang, Minister of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said in Fuzhou on the 13th,According to incomplete statistics, a total of 2,949 economic and trade exhibitions were held in my country in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 48.6%; the total exhibition area was 92.99 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 27.2%.

Feng Yaoxiang made the above statement at the 17th China Exhibition Economy International Cooperation Forum held from 12 to 14.

The 'China Exhibition Economic Development Report 2021' released by the forum shows that the construction of large-scale exhibition venues in my country will accelerate against the trend in 2021.In 2021, the number of exhibition halls nationwide is 151, a year-on-year increase of approximately 1.3%; the total indoor rentable area is approximately 10.34 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of approximately 7.9%.

Zhang Shenfeng, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that the exhibition industry still plays a prominent role as an engine of economic development and plays an important role in driving economic growth, promoting open cooperation, increasing social employment, and promoting urban development.

'2021 is known as the first year of the 'Metaverse' in the exhibition industry. There is a development trend in the exhibition industry in which the transformation from offline exhibitions to digitalization is accelerating and online and offline integration are emerging.' Feng Yaoxiang said.

Experts attending the meeting pointed out that the new problems brought about by the new format of the exhibition industry deserve attention.Lin Shunjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Exhibition Group, said that the online platform is still in the exploratory stage, and many problems such as unstable profit models, unclear technical standards, and lack of data security cannot be ignored.At present, offline exhibitions still play an irreplaceable role in on-site experience, interpersonal communication, and information interaction.
